After all this time is considered part of the periphery and the flow resistance, finally street art (translation free of street art) became mainstream in the global art movement. Street artists have been invited to participate in many important exhibitions in important institutions, like museums and bienal / international trienal, and regarded as a contemporary artist with a strong influence in the global art development.
In the exhibition "Wall Street Arts", curators Alia Swastika invited seven graffiti artists from Jakarta to collaborate with French artists to display six distinctive graffiti in each city. Its interesting to observed how this street style would later influence a variety of well established media in contemporary art including paintings, installations and video art.
Artists who participated in the exhibition are those who recognized and experienced in the world of graffiti. From Jakarta, there are Darbotz, Tutu, Popo, Nsane5, Wormo, Kims and the Bujangan Urban who have often adorn the walls in the streets of Jakarta. While from France, there are six artists who have become street art patrons in Europe: Sonic, Colorz, Gilbert, Congo, Lazoo, and Ceet been drawing on the road since the 70's and their works are widely used by leading brands world such as Nike, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Prada, and Adidas. In addition, several artists who have settled in Indonesian contemporary art world, among other things Dyanto Soni and Arie Irawan, will participate in this exhibition.
